The Shovel

 Each year Petersham CC and Townsend Ridge CC compete for "The Shovel". It is a "home and home" event, held in the latter part of October

The format of the competition is similar to the Ryder Cup format. Vis.: The visiting captain organizes his team into twosomes. The home-standing captain then formulates a slate of twosomes from his team, which then competes against the visitors' slate.

Opposing twosomes compete in net, "better ball" matches.  Three points are contested in each match e.g. points for the front, the back and the match.

Handicaps are computed at 80% of each competitor's GHIN index.
